When working with asbestos tile there are a few things you have to watch
for.
One the color will start to fade if you use todays stripper and it will
be very hard to get this color back once it is gone.
Two the law is you can not dry buff this floor bare. The asbestos can
not be airborne so it must have a finish or be kept wet.
Three most of the time a deep scrub and a spray buff then recoat will be
the most you can do on this type of floor.

>> HI,
>> We are looking involved with a project that has some old tile that the owner believes is asbestos tile. The floor is probably more than 50 years ole and looks like it has held up pretty well. I know that Vinyl Asbestos Tile is the precursor to Vinyl Composite tile. VCT just doesn't hold up that well over many years typically, but this stuff looks to be in good shape. The whole project is a restoration project involving tile, marble and wood, so they would like to retain it if possible (and perhaps save some bucks). Anyone out there have experience with restoring this stuff. I was thinking of cleaning and color enhancing perhaps or coating with polymer. Am planning on doing a test at some point this week.
