RE: [sccpartners] Terrazzo John Freitag 20 Dec 2010 05:01 EST

Kris,

I highly recommend you strip the floor, by grinding off the surface you
never remove the waxes totally from the pore of the terrazzo and you would
need to hand grind the edges to remove the waxes. For the sake of time I
would recommend to just strip the floor hone it and then polish it. If this
terrazzo has never been in a natural polish before in order to get the
finish you want you will probably need to start at a 50 resin and work your
way up. Remember waxes although are topical they do penetrate into the pores
of the terrazzo or stone and will never be totally remove unless stripped.
This could haunt you when it comes to polishing if all the waxes are not
removed.

I am going to natural polish about 5000 sqft of waxed terrazzo. Do I
need to strip off the old finish with wax stripper or can I use a
diamond to remove the finish.
All comments are welcome.
