day to day maintenance on stone floors

Greetings,
We are cleaning about 2000 sq. ft. of travertine. The wife wants to use a “shark” steamer to clean her floors. She says its very easy to handle. The husband disagrees, saying that the steam will weaken the seal (impregnator) on the stone. Any thoughts?
