That's a very interesting response! But it depend on where most of your work is and what's most practical. At least for me...
I too never want to be associated with carpet cleaners either.
But using my portable unit
That actually has more power than my trucks is more of a hassle unloading and loading back in the trucks than running hoses in & out after the polish. It's much faster and less of a hassle to use a truck mount, especially when power sources are limited. It also greatly reduces running extension cords through out the house to access power and constantly tripping breakers.
90% of our work is in high end residential homes.
In Northern California, out here truck mount carpet cleaning trucks are commonly used for stone restoration except in the big cities.
My Technicians have both options and that's most preferred.
I'm interested in knowing what's different where your at that make unloading & loading a portable easier or is it just what your used to?
Looking forward to your response
Thanks

I never want to even have the appearance of a “carpet guy” I am a stone guy only (well maybe a bit of tile too) Sick of competing against these guys, who say “20 years experience” on their van, but 18 years of that is carpet, flood restoration work, pest control, and 2 years doing stone with 3 monkey pads and an SX12. My opinion, ditch the truck mount and use a portable, and save a ton on fuel costs and van interior space.
